Preview

ROSS Intelligence was a former AI-powered legal research platform that aimed to revolutionize the approach to legal information retrieval using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Founded in 2014, ROSS Intelligence used Natural Language Processing (NLP), allowing lawyers to ask complex legal questions in plain language and receive relevant answers, statutory excerpts, and case precedents. The platform applied machine learning to analyze vast volumes of legal documents, identify key concepts, summarize cases, and find connections between different sources of law. ROSS offered features for intelligent search, document analysis, and tracking legislative and jurisprudential changes on relevant topics. Despite its innovativeness and positive user reviews regarding ease of use and NLP capabilities, the company faced significant legal challenges related to accusations of copyright infringement by Thomson Reuters (owner of Westlaw), concerning the use of their content to train AI models. The lengthy legal process and associated costs led ROSS Intelligence to cease operations in early 2021. The platform was implemented as a cloud-based SaaS service and, before its closure, offered various subscription-based pricing plans.
