Saudi Arabia Launches HUMAIN: A New Company Aiming for Global AI Leadership

On May 12, 2025, the official launch of an ambitious new artificial intelligence company, HUMAIN, was announced. The initiative, presented by Saudi Arabias Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is being implemented under the auspices of the countrys Public Investment Fund (PIF) and aims to transform the kingdom into one of the global leaders in AI. This move is part of the broader Vision 2030 strategy, focused on economic diversification and the development of high-tech industries.

HUMAIN is being established to operate across the entire artificial intelligence value chain – from research and development to the deployment of market-ready solutions. According to the announcement, its scope will include the creation of advanced data centers, the development of AI infrastructure and cloud computing, and the design of its own advanced AI models and AI solutions for various economic sectors. A special emphasis will be placed on developing one of the worlds most powerful multimodal Arabic Large Language Models (LLMs), capable of processing text, images, and speech, which is intended to significantly expand the accessibility and applicability of AI technologies in the Arabic-speaking world.

The strategy for HUMAIN also involves actively attracting top global AI talent and investment, fostering local innovation capabilities, and creating intellectual property. The company will seek to form strategic partnerships with leading international technology companies, research institutions, and startups to exchange knowledge and accelerate the development of practical AI applications. It is anticipated that solutions developed by HUMAIN will find use in key sectors such as finance, healthcare, education, energy, industry, and the public sector, contributing to increased efficiency and stimulating economic growth. The launch of this company underscores Saudi Arabias serious intentions to secure a prominent position on the global artificial intelligence stage.
